This CME medical conference is designed for the practitioner looking for a more advanced level of skills with an increased focus on traumatic injuries including fractures. Other advances topics include Gait Analysis and Pediatric Orthopedic Pearls. It is recommended that you attend this meeting wearing suitable loose fitting clothing, i.e. t-shirts, tank tops, and shorts to allow you to practice examination techniques in a supervised setting.

This course is also designed to have the participants learn the appropriate splints and casts for various injuries to the upper and lower extremities. Even in the practice settings where more complex fractures need consultation, leaning the techniques of applying fiberglass splints can assist the practitioner in managing many musculoskeletal injuries. There is also an extensive supervised practice time to learn how to put on the most common splints. The most common fractures seen in the office setting are reviewed and there are many opportunities to apply each of the casts appropriately in the care of these injuries. More than half of this 2-day course involves interactive sessions.

The ICD 9 codes for the diagnosis are also included throughout the course. CPT codes for the application of splints and casts are reviewed, as well as the coding and reimbursement issues to help make sure that these skills lead to a sustainable practice model.
